Details

Firmitas is an objective architectural principle that represents resistance to time. The resistance of natural stone to time supports this term. The figure's curved but rigid lines reflect the functionality of a load-bearing column that vertically transfers the pressure on it to the ground, while its contact with the organic wooden base embodies the contrast between permanence and variability. Stone symbolizes permanence against wood's attitude towards time.

This marble form embodies the simplest reference to Da Vinci's golden ratio. The organic details, which we can call arms and legs, and its wide-open posture evoke the simple form of the Vitruvian man.
